Based in Pampanga, Philippines, Chrysara was established over 30 years ago by company owner and creative director, Alice Reyes.  At the time she co-owned number of antique shops throughout the Philippines and South East Asia under The Galleon Shop name.  While The Galleon Shop focused primarily on Philippine antiques it also designed and sold a small line of hand-made products.

In 1984 Alice decided to close the Galleon Shop stores but she wanted to keep the craftsmen she worked with employed.   She focused on establishing a company that designed and produced items for export and one that showcased the talents of Philippine artisans and craftsmen. Together with a staff of three she started the company in the basement of her home in Pasay City.  She named the company Chrysara after her two children (Chris and Sara) and began exporting to buyers in Europe and the USA.

The first collections produced by Chrysara were quite simple in design and construction compared with those the company produces today.  We began with collectible objects like hand painted duck decoys, baskets in floral shapes and paperweights made from river stones hand-painted with cat and dog images.   Each design had a fun whimsical feel with detailed finishing and they took off with the export market.

As the company grew, our designers and craftsmen became skilled in creating items with more complicated construction and finishing so we have been able to expand our design and product capabilities significantly.

Over 30 years after its humble beginnings, Chrysara continues to supply exquisitely handcrafted products to discerning wholesalers and retailers throughout the globe.
